Development and application of ISO 10303 (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data, or STEP) is a major business thrust. In addition, product data engineering techniques are applied to processes that reduce the lead times and costs associated with the delivery of parts and assemblies used in DoD's weapons systems. Solutions address the growing concerns within DoD regarding the diminishing availability of spare parts needed to support aging weapons systems and industry's transition to made-to-order production operations.

Sample activities of this Business Unit include:

• Reducing DoD weapons system lifecycle costs through solutions using product data in a universally acceptable, standardized format

• Supporting deployed advanced manufacturing technology at major DoD overhaul and repair facilities

• Participating in the ISO Standards community in the development of the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data, ISO 10303

• Partnering with academia and industry on advanced product data programs

• Developing e-Commerce software for DoD and maintaining a 24x7x365 production system
